Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed (born 1975, age 47)

From the prominent Baba-Ahmed family of Zaria. Yusuf Datti is an academia, economist and politician. Was member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 and senator for Kaduna North from 2011 to 2012. His senatorial leadership was terminated as he was sacked by the electoral tribunal. Baba-Ahmed has a BSc and MSc in Economics from the University of Maiduguri in Borno State.

 

He is the founder and Pro-chancellor of Baze University Abuja and the Baze University Hospital which is said to be the biggest private hospital in Africa today. He was one of the lawmakers who opposed the third term agenda of President Obasanjo. Datti is known for principled activism.

On 7th July 2022, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed accepted to be vice presidential candidate to Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party for the 2023 presidential elections.
