Police Apprehend Three Suspects Over NYSC Lodge Robbery In Akwa Ibom

Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command, have detained three people in connection with the robbery at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) lodging in the State.

The suspects broke into the lodge on Udo Ekong Ekwere Street, off Information Drive, in July and stole things belonging to the corps members, including laptops, cell phones, and cash.

Olatoye Durosinmi, the Commissioner of Police, personally visited the scene with the NYSC Coordinator and vowed to find the criminals.

In a statement by the command’s spokesman, Odiko Macdon on Thursday, December 8th, he said the suspects have been arrested after a meticulous investigation by the anti-robbery squad of the command.

The statement tagged, “Arrest of NYSC Lodge Robbers”, reads in part: “Recall that some time ago, on the 6th of July 2022, at about 01:30 am to be precise, suspected armed robbers, invaded the NYSC lodge, located at Udo Ekong Street, Off information Drive in Uyo LGA, damaged the doors of the partially fenced building and dispossessed Corpers of their phones, pieces of jewelry, physical cash and other valuables.”

“In a meticulous investigation, the Anti-Robbery Squad of the Command arrested the following suspects who have been on the run and responsible for terrorizing Aka Community and environs namely: Aniefiok Okon Willie, a.k.a ‘Akpan Efa’, Iniobong Okon Eden, a.k.a ‘Orok’, and Joshua Bassey Asuquo, a.k.a ‘Sim Card’ or ‘immortal’.”

The Command’s spokesperson said the suspects, who confessed to being responsible for the said robbery, had made many stunning revelations, including their membership of a confraternity, and also mentioned members of their gang still at large.
