In Sokoto, Police Parades Eight Suspects For Kidnapping, Banditry

In Sokoto, eight suspects are currently being held by police on charges of banditry and kidnapping. The Sokoto State Police Command paraded the accused on Tuesday, December 13th.

Musa Suleman, age 7, was abducted by unidentified persons on Sunday, December 4, 2022, according to Suleman Musa, who reported the incident to the State Criminal Investigation Department. Musa Suleman was held captive for four days, according to Sokoto State Commissioner of Police Muhammed Gumel.

The Commissioner of Police said: “Suleiman Musa reportedly told the police that he paid N4m as ransom before the boy was released to him.”

Following a police investigation, a neighbour of the family named Haliru Riskuwa, also known as Lopetee, was later taken into custody.

Haliru Riskuwa, Abdullahi Umar, and Faruku Usman Binji stand accused of committing the crime, by the Commissioner of Police Gumel. Binji is still at large but Umar has been captured and is in police custody. The suspects have so far turned over N2.5 million of the ransom.
