Platoon 4 Seals Top Spot In Drill Competition As Mfongang Reiterates The Importance Of Team Work

4 Platoon sealed the top spot in the drill competition for 2023 Batch C Stream 2 for Corps Members deployed to Rivers State NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai.

Adjudging them the best platoon, the Chief Umpire, Major S Ibrahim explained that platoon 4 stood out in meeting their parameters for judgement, thus, the overwhelming judgement in choosing them as the undisputed winners of the event.

Speaking further, he praised the platoons for their impressive performances and specially commended the Camp Commandant, Capt  Essien, Camp RSM, Staff Sgt. Osita A and the military instructors for doing a great and massive job with the Corps Members.

In his remark to declare the competition open, the superlatively super and performing performer State Coordinator NYSC Rivers State, gorgeous George Mfongang informed the Corps Members that the essence of the drill competition is to bring out their best and finetune their discipline, organizational ability, listening skill, paying attention to details, cohesion, teamwork and stamina amongst others.

He maintained that the above qualities and virtues are sine qua non for every individual aspiring for a leadership position and without which such a leader will be an inefficient and ineffective leader.

The Rivers State NYSC Team Lead equally used the occasion to further reiterate the need for Corps Members to be competitive in all their undertakings as life in itself is a competition.

He concluded by charging them to be sincere, fair, and just while competing and avoid the winning at-all-cost mentality.

In the competition 8 platoon came 2nd, 3 platoon 3rd and 9 platoon 10th.

With their coming 10th position, 9 platoons were awarded the big ‘otondo spoon’.
