French Winger Out Of World Cup Final With Illness

France manager Didier Deschamps has confirmed that winger Kingsley Coman is the third player in the squad to have fallen ill in the build-up to the World Cup final. Both Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano were unavailable for the semi-final victory over Croatia after contracting a virus which a handful of players have attributed to the air conditioning systems present in the stadiums in Qatar. Now, Coman has complained of flu-like symptoms and Deschamps admitted France face a battle to avoid an outbreak in the camp ahead of the final against Argentina on Sunday.”Coman had a fever this morning,” Deschamps admitted.

“We have had a few cases of flu-like symptoms. We are trying to be careful so that it does not spread. The players have put in a great effort on the pitch and obviously their immune systems have suffered.”Dayot Upamecano felt bad right after the game against England. It happens when you exert yourself so much, you are more prone to getting these viruses. We’re taking all the necessary precautions.”Coman has featured five times for France in Qatar but has only started one game, playing just over an hour in the 1-0 defeat to Tunisia at the end of the group stage. The Bayern Munich man has been used off the bench in late stages but went unused in the semi-final win over Croatia, with another substitute, Randal Kolo Muani, coming on to bag the second goal and secure the victory for Les Bleus.
