Real Madrid star Luka Modric has said that it is his ‘dream’ to retire at the club, but will not make a decision about his future until after the World Cup.Modric has captained Croatia back to the semi-finals for a second successive World Cup, aiming to steer his country to another final after also getting there in 2018.The 37-year-old is out of contract with Real at the end of the season after signing a new 12-month deal last summer. But he remains a vitally important player for Los Blancos, having won his fifth Champions League title in May and starting all but one game in the last season’s competition.
“What happens next, let’s see, there’s enough time to talk about everything,” Modric told reporters ahead of Croatia’s semi-final clash with Argentina.“Of course, I want to retire in Madrid, I’ve said that many times. You can’t say anything for 100 per cent, but that’s my idea, and it’s a dream for me.”Modric joined Real Madrid from Tottenham back in 2012. He had been a star in the making at Dinamo Zagreb as early as 2003 and made his first World Cup appearance for Croatia in 2006. The 2022 finals in Qatar is the fourth World Cup of his career and eighth major international tournament.
