A twitter user and an Abuja resident Ameerah Sufiyanu on June 14th 2022, posted on her social media account about her being kidnapped. “Ameerah sent a distress tweet that she and 16 others including 3 pregnant women and two little kids were abducted at gun point by people in police uniforms in Abuja” Mr. Macaroni quoted.

Today, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has pronounced that Ameerah Sufiyanu is with them. The police deflated the reports that 17 other persons were kidnapped by armed men in police uniforms. In a statement by ASP Oduniyi Omotayo, Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, the FCT command said Ameerah is currently in its custody.
The statement reads “FCT Police Command wishes to categorically debunk the viral news of the alleged kidnapping of one Safiyanu Ameerah and seventeen (17) others who were reportedly abducted at gunpoint by armed men in police uniform on Tuesday, 14th June 2022, at about 1:00 pm, and to state that Safiyanu Ameerah is currently safe in police custody,”
“While she is currently in the hospital receiving medical attention as demanded by global best practices, the investigation continues and findings will be communicated subsequently.’’
The FCT command police commissioner CP Babaji Sunday (psc) commended the level of investigation so far, he acknowledged the members of the public for being calm and helpful in providing useful information to the police.
