The Importance of Drinking Water Regularly

Keeping the body hydrated is crucial for health and well being, but a lot of people do not consume enough fluids each day. About 60 percent of the body mass is made-up of water and 71 percent of the planet surface is covered by water. Perhaps it is the ubiquitous nature of water that means drinking enough each daily is not on many people’s list of priorities.

The need to getting enough water intakes by individuals cannot be over emphasized due to its importance to human health. Drinking water can prevent dehydration; a condition that can cause unclear thinking, resulting in mood change, lack of water in the body can lead to overheat and constipation which can also result to kidney stones.

Study has shown that the human brain is strongly influenced by your hydration status. A mild dehydration of body weight can impair many aspect of brain function. Water is responsible for carrying oxygen to the cells in the body.

Water help you keep a normal body temperature, lubricate and cushion joints, it also protects your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues. It is responsible of getting rid of wastes through urination, perspiration and bowel movement.

Furthermore, it is required that in very hot climate you take in more water to stabilize your body temperature and also during physical activities like sport, During fever you can use water as a source of first aid to normalize the individual, also in the case of diarrhea and vomiting

It is said that, those who drink water often have a healthy skin, it’s not just water that keep you hydrated. All beverages containing water contributes towards your daily needs. And it’s a myth that caffeinated beverages or alcohol are dehydrating because they make you urinate. They do, but over the case of the day, the water from these beverages still leads to a net positive contribution to fluid consumption.

To ward off dehydration, drink fluids gradually throughout the day. An easy way to do this is to have a drink at each meal, as well as socially. Older persons do not sense thirst that much as they did when they were younger, so drinking water must be deliberate at intervals. And note that you also get fluids from water rich foods, such as salads and fruits.
