Terrorists Strike In Zamfara, Kill Two, Abduct Many

In the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, terrorists have burned down the Gidan-goga market and killed two persons while abducting a number of others.

While speaking to a correspondent from The Punch, Mohammed Musa, an indigene of the area, said that the terrorists on motorcycles set ablaze the market on Wednesday, destroying goods worth millions of Naira.

“They also killed two people and abducted several others, while many people sustained serious injuries,” Musa said.

He continued, “The terrorists arrived at the market when businesses were going on and began to shoot sporadically”.

“This caused a serious commotion as people ran for their dear lives as a result of which many have sustained serious injuries.”

Musa said, “The bandits later set the market on fire and moved to the forest with the people they have abducted.”

He maintained that the number of abducted was yet to be ascertained because most were not from the village.

“Most of them came to the market from various places, as such, we are yet to confirm the number of abductees, but they might be more than 30,” Musa concluded.

The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached on the phone for comment at the time of filing this report.
