Son Injured As Spurs Secure Vital Win Against Marseille

Son Heung-min was left with a swollen eye after taking a blow to the head against Marseille, and Tottenham aren’t yet sure about the severity of the injury. It proved to be a good night for Spurs who, on the verge of being knocked out of the Champions League after going 1-0 down, bounced back to win 3-1 and top their group. However, things weren’t quite perfect with key player Son Heung-min subbed off after being hit in the head by Chancel Mbemba as the two challenged for the ball. The fear now will be that he suffered concussion which, if serious enough, could rule him out for the weekend match against Liverpool.

Speaking to the press in place of the suspended Antonio Conte, assistant manager Cristian Stellini said the club don’t yet know whether that’s and are waiting for a medical assessment to be done.“In this moment, we don’t know,” he told reporters on Tuesday night. “We have to wait for a medical assessment, and we have to wait until tomorrow. Sonny feels better now. I saw him in the dressing room. He celebrated with us. So we will wait for tomorrow.“We are not sure [if he was concussed]. It is his face. His eye is a bit swollen.”Losing a player of Son’s caliber will be a massive blow for Antonio Conte and Spurs who take on Liverpool this weekend, Son is such an important player for Spurs and his presence in the team will really make a huge difference.
