President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated the 37km Owerri to Orlu dual carriageway in Imo State on Tuesday 13th September 2022 for use, The commissioning was done amidst tight security.
Before the emergence of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the incumbent governor of Imo State on January 14, 2020, the Owerri-Orlu road was in terrible shape, it was a nightmare for the road users and the towns linking to the road.
Hope Uzodinma awarded the contract for the reconstruction and dualization of the road to Craneburg Construction Company – a world-class construction company that have the equipment, expertise and hunger for excellence. Today, Craneburg Construction Company has delivered a solid road project and the first of its kind in Imo since 1999.
Owerri-Orlu road is important because it links the biggest senatorial zone and the second biggest city in the state to the state capital. it is an economic road that cuts across 6 Local Government Areas alongside the Owerri-Okigwe road given that it connects two major economic towns of the State aimed to foster trade and movement of agricultural produce from the rural area to the urban area.
Imo people could not hide their joy as to the current state of the road, its well-drained and tarred roads, markings and lightning, as they illuminate hope for better economic fortunes and prosperity.
Mr President Muhammadu Buhari once again poured out praises on the type of leadership Gov. Uzodimma has provided for the Imo people and his bravery and courageousness in the area of infrastructural development, where he shares a similar vision with Gov. Uzodimma.
