Okowa Should Not Be Taking Credit For NDDC Projects – APC Chieftain

Chinye Matthew, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, has urged Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to quit flaunting the accomplishments of the Niger Delta Development Commission’s projects in the Aniocha North Local Government Area as his own.

This was said by Chinye, the local government’s party chairman for Aniocha North, as the Omo-Agege campaign train hit the local government.

He asserted that NDDC provided the funding for the projects that the governor had claimed to have provided for the citizens of Aniocha North.

He said, “We want to state that the projects governor Okowa said he provided for the people of Aniocha North were funded by NDDC.

“These road projects in Aniocha North remain very important, owing to the fact that many of the dwellers in rural areas are farmers who contribute to the food baskets of the state.”

“Okowa should not be taking credits over projects that his administration never awarded, funded, and commissioned in Aniocha North.”

He regretted that the Onicha-Uku/Issele-Uku road was in a sorry state, as the two communities were cut off from each other over an inaccessible road.

Emeka Nwobi, who represents Aniocha North in the Delta State House of Assembly, responded to the allegations by saying that in addition to funding road systems, Okowa had also provided funding for a number of other projects aimed at improving the lives of the locals.

He said that the Onicha-Uku Issele-Uku road project, which Okowa had awarded and for which he had mobilised contractors, was still under construction.

He warned the residents of Aniocha North Local Government Council to disregard the APC chairman’s assertions, claiming that the party thrives on misinformation and lies.
