Nigerians With Expired Passports Are Permitted To Return Home By FG

Nigerians getting back with expired visa for the December occasion, will currently be permitted into the country.

This was made clear in a letter that Isah Jere Idris, the Comptroller-General of the Immigration Service (CGIS), wrote to Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, on December 9, 2022.

The letter, with the reference number NIS/CGI/FD/208/20 and the signature of DCI BM Lawal, a Special Assistant to the Comtroller-General of Immigration Service (Foreign Desk), was sent to all Head of Missions, Immigration Attachés, airport comptrollers, and airlines.

It read, in part:

“Consequently, all Airlines are requested to allow holders of expired Nigerian passports to board without let or hindrance.

“In addition, all Nigerian Diplomatic Missions abroad are kindly requested to circulate this information to airlines operators and border authorities of host countries for their necessary action.”
