Mr Buhari had threatened genocide against the Igbo-dominated South-East in the tweet that violated Twitter’s policy on violence and abusive behaviour.
‘The tweet referred to the 1967-70 Nigerian Civil War and to treating “those misbehaving today” in “the language they will understand”.
This tweet caused an outrage and led to Buhari’s account suspension.. This led to Twitter restriction for Nigeria’s and punishment for those who disobeys.
Nigeria’s information minister called Twitter’s move unfair, labelling it “double standards. The minister said that Twitter and the Government are in talks but it appears from the whistle-blower that the Nigeria Government lied.
