Man Arrested For Possession Of Fake Foreign Currencies By NSCDC In Jigawa

A 37-year-old man was taken into custody in Jigawa State after being found in possession of 26 pieces of 1,000 counterfeit CFA francs, according to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in the state capital of Dutse, the public relations officer for the Corps in the state, Adamu Shehu, shared this information with the public.

Shehu claimed that the suspect, who resided in the Bachirawa neighbourhood of Kano State, was apprehended after Malam Abdul’aziz Shehu and Hajiya Saratu Muhammad, residents of Kazaure Town and the Kazaure Local Government Area, filed a complaint alleging that the suspect had sold them fake CFA Francs worth N230, 000.

“Unfortunately the victims did not know that the money was fake until they took it somewhere for exchange.”

“Already, the suspect confessed that he got the money from a businesswoman while traveling from Kazaure to Kano.”

“At the point of his arrest, the suspect was in possession of 26 pieces of 1,000 notes of Niger CFA equivalent to N338, 000,” he said.

He said that the suspect would be arraigned before a court soon.
