A businessman named Augustine Okoye was abducted and assassinated over the weekend in Ugbe, Akoko North East Local Government Area, Ondo State.
It was said that the deceased, a well-known cosmetics dealer in the state’s Ikare-Akoko axis, was assassinated after an undisclosed amount of money was paid as ransom.
On their route to Isua town, Okoye and his wife were kidnapped on the Isua-Ise Akoko highway. Sources claim that after receiving a ransom from the family, the kidnappers released the wife and killed the businessman.
Bolaji Augustine, the wife, described how they were abducted and revealed that Okoye had been killed before the ransom was paid.
A police source in Ikare Akoko confirmed the incident while also stating that the victims’ abduction vehicle had been found at the scene.
According to the police source, local vigilantes and Amotekun Corps agents have started searching the forest in the area to find Okoye’s body and apprehend the culprits.
