In Yobe, APC Receives Over 250 PDP Defectors

More than 250 former People’s Democratic Party (PDP)) members who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been received by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni in the Fune local government area of the state.

The decampees were welcomed by Governor Buni, who was represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana. He characterised the development as a serious blow to the opposition.

He promised the newcomers that the party would provide them the same opportunity and rights as other members, saying the “APC believes in one united Nigeria, contrary to PDP.”

In his remarks, Mohammed Gadaka, the state party chairman, commended the defectors for joining the ruling APC and invited members of the other political parties in the state to do the same in order to advance the state.

The choice to change their allegiance couldn’t have come at a better moment, according to Mallan Iliyasu Adamu Jilum, a former PDP executive member in the Fune local government, who spoke on behalf of the defectors.

“We dumped our former party because of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s transparent leadership,” Jilum declared.

The distribution of APC flags to the new recruits by the State Deputy Governor, assisted by state party Chairman Mohammad Gadaka, was one of the event’s highlights.
