In Anambra, Hoodlums Invade Police Station

On Wednesday night, hoodlums attacked and set a police station in Anambra State’s Ihiala Local Government Area on fire.

According to a source, the assailants stormed the police station in large numbers and faced little opposition before setting it on fire.

The Anambra State Police Command acknowledged the event and claimed that the hoodlums threw an explosive into the facility to set it.

The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who stated: “Our operatives in the early hours of today (Wednesday) engaged some gunmen who attacked Ihiala Police Divisional Headquarters and recovered one abandoned AK-47 rifle.”

“The gunmen escaped the scene due to the superior fire of the police operatives although no casualty was recorded.”

“Unfortunately, the explosives the gunmen threw inside the police station had already ignited a fire that affected the building.”

“The fire has been put out. Operation is still ongoing in the area, further details shall be communicated.”
