I Turned Down A Deal With Russia For A One On One Swap Of The So Called Merchant Of Death – Donald Trump

Donald Trump said Sunday, Dec. 11, that he previously rejected an attempt by Russia to trade “Merchant of Death” arms dealer Viktor Bout for former US Marine Paul Whelan.

Therefore, Trump had called out current president Joe Biden for swapping Bout for WNBA player Brittney Griner.

According to the former US president, he insisted he would never free someone who has “killed untold numbers.”

He wrote on his Truth Social account: “I turned down a deal with Russia for a one on one swap of the so-called Merchant of Death for Paul Whelan.

“I wouldn’t have made the deal for a hundred people in exchange for someone that has killed untold numbers of people with his arms deals.”

The one-for-one exchange agreement negotiated with Moscow in recent weeks was given final approval by President Biden just the last week, according to sources familiar with the deal.

Viktor Bout sold arms to warlords and rogue governments, becoming one of the world’s most wanted men.
Dubbed the “merchant of death” for gun-running in the years after the fall of the Soviet Union, the Russian’s exploits inspired the 2005 Hollywood film Lord of War, which was loosely based on his life.
Griner 31, and basketballer was arrested at a Moscow airport in February for possessing cannabis oil and last month sent to a penal colony.

His secretive career was brought to an end by an elaborate US sting in 2008, when he was arrested at a hotel in the Thai capital Bangkok, to the anger of the Russian government.
