Newly hired Manchester United manager Erick Ten Hag has stated in an interview that he does not know how to make Christiano Ronaldo happy at the club with reports suggesting that the Portuguese talisman might leave the red devils this summer. The news of Ronaldo leaving Manchester United has been trending for more than a week now with the Portuguese also asking the club to consider bids for him as he would like to leave the club but Ten Hag has also insisted in a recent interview that Ronaldo remains part of his plans for next season and as such the club should do every thing to keep him.
A lot has been said concerning the reason behind Ronaldo’s desire to leave the club with a large part of the rumors stating that Manchester United’s failure to qualify for champions league might be the real reason behind the Portuguese desires to leave. However, a recent report states that Ronaldo’s reason to leave the club might be as a result of the clubs decision to include him in a general wage cut as punishment for failing to qualify for the champions league.
Recall that Ronaldo was Manchester United’s best player last season, rescuing the club on a number of occasions and finishing as the Premier Leagues third highest goal scorer only behind Mohamed Salah and Son Heung Min, Ronaldo should have been deeply appreciated for his contributions and consistency. He remained Manchester United’s major attacking threat all season, putting in quality performances in almost every game he played even at 37 but was constantly let down by his teammates most of the times. Manchester United were wrong to include Ronaldo in the list of players to have a reduction in their wages as he clearly deserves better treatment for being one of the major reasons United were even able to qualify the Europa League.
