How Herdsmen Killed My Mother, Burnt Down My House In Benue – Man Narrates Story

Man from Ikobi Community in Benue State has narrated bitterly on how his mother was killed during the herdsmen invasion in Benue State.

For the past three weeks, indiscriminate killings by suspected herders has been ongoing. This has left no fewer than 400 persons dead, President Muhammadu Buhari has asked security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to book.

The worst hit in the recent attacks is communities in the Benue South District, the home of the Idoma-speaking people.
Apa, Agatu and Otukpo axis of the area accounts for the majority of the casualties.

Several sources in the communities said Apa Local Government Area,LGA, alone recorded over 250 deaths while no fewer than 75 persons lost their lives in Otukpo LGA within this period.

Man in his late twenty’s was seen bitterly narrating how he lost his mum during this killings.

“My Mother was sitting in the compound, she was Killed in My compound” he said.

“In Ikobi community there is no exam centre, SS3 students cannot write exam, people have been displaced”

“We need peace, We don’t need soldiers to come shooting at  those seeking for peace”

“We expect the soldiers to talk to us, serve as an advocate of peace” We want the peace to be return”.

“As we speak not less than five thousand seven hundred people were razed, killed..including pregnant women”
