Gunmen Attack Police Checkpoint In Anambra, Many Feared Dead

Citizens of Anambra State were thrown into a state of pandemonium following the attack on a police checkpoint by gunmen on Tuesday 8th November.

Although the information surrounding the attack is still sketchy, however, reports say that some people are feared dead while others are severely injured.

The incident happened at about 10.30 am between the Ihiala-Uli axis in Ihiala local government area. Drivers and commuters were forced to flee for their lives during the attack as the gunman shot continuously.

Daily Post reports that all the security operatives removed their uniforms and took cover in nearby bushes and houses.

The Onitsha- Owerri expressway had been abandoned as of the time of filing this report. Even commercial bus drivers have paused operations for fear of being killed.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu could not be reached for further confirmation.
