Gunmen Attack Community In Abuja, Kill One, Abduct Two

The Ushafa community in Bwari Area Council, Abuja, was ambushed by gunmen believed to be bandits, during the attack, the gunmen killed a man and kidnapped his family.

According to sources in the neighbourhood, the event happened on Wednesday morning at around 01:00 a.m. in the morning, causing anxiety in the neighbourhood.

The incident is said to have occurred behind the LGEA Primary School Ushafa, close to the popular Going Park.

According to reports, the attackers entered the area and continued firing for more than 30 minutes without being stopped by any security officers.

Before being shot dead, the victim was alleged to have fought with the kidnappers brandishing guns. The assailants took the wife and a cousin hostage to an unidentified location.

DSP Josephine Adeh, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, said, “On Wednesday, January 11, around 6 am, the Police Control Room received a distress call that armed hoodlums stormed Ushafa village via the Bwari area council of the FCT.”

“The information was relayed to the Bwari divisional police headquarters and other security apparatus of the command around the area mobilised tactical and intelligence assets to the scene.”

“Upon sighting the officers, the hoodlums took to their heels having shot one Benjamin Ogundare and abducted the duo of Goodluck Ogundare and Janet Ogundare.”

“The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on call. Aggressive hunt and rescue mission has been launched on the tails of the hoodlums, while the investigation continues.”
