Fire Outbreak: Goods Worth Millions Of Naira Destroyed In Lagos

On Sunday, goods worth millions of naira were destroyed in a fire outbreak at Flux Logistics’ warehouse facility on Sapara Williams Street, off Oba Akran Avenue in the Ikeja area of Lagos. 

The fire was declared to have started at about 9 am.

According to a statement released by the Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, the fire involved finished distilled volatile chemical products made of ethanol and packed in combustible bottles.

“The contents stored within a large expanse warehouse block were securely locked making accessibility difficult to the seat of fire thereby breaking-in tools were deployed to gain access.

“Furthermore, the intensity of the radiation resulting from the chemical compound materials gave way for sparse explosions before it was curtailed by Lagos Fire Crew from Ikeja, Alausa, Agege and Bolade while dampening down the remains of fire continues,” she said.

According to Adeseye, there was no casualty beacause the operation was in the mopping up stage.

She further said an investigation was ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
