EFCC Abuja Apprehends Two Alleged Currency Counterfeiters With Fake $270,000

In the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on Friday the 21st of October that it had detained two suspected currency counterfeiters.

Johnson Olumoyegun and Tanko Abubakar were identified as the suspects in a statement by EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwajeren.

He said that on October 6 and 7, 2022, the suspects were apprehended in Kubwa and Area 3 axis of the nation’s capital with fictitious $270,000, (Two Hundred and Seventy Thousand United States Dollars).

Additionally, Olumoyegun impersonated an officer of the Commission by utilizing a fictitious Solomon David-named EFCC ID card and he had an ECOWAS passport bearing the name Isa Bello.

The statement added: “The two suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.”
