Ebonyi State Government Declares 2-Day Public Holiday To Allow For PVC Collection

In order to allow all civil and public personnel, including schools, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the state before the February elections, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State on Monday proclaimed a two-day public holiday from Thursday to Friday.

This was said in a statement issued on Monday, January 23rd, in Abakaliki by Mr. Uchenna Orji, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation.

He claimed that the action was taken in consideration of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, deadline set for eligible voters to obtain their PVCs.

“This is to enable the good people of Ebonyi, who are yet to collect their PVCs to proceed to their respective Local Government PVC Collection Centres to collect theirs, bearing in mind that the last day of collection is on Sunday, January 29th,” Umahi said.
