Chelsea Star Has No Intention Of Leaving Club In Summer

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho said he would like to extend his stay at Chelsea despite reported interest from a number of clubs, including Newcastle United. The 31-year-old is one of the four Chelsea players whose contracts with the club expire at the end of the season.Obviously, there are questions about his future at Stamford Bridge.A recent report from The Athletic claims that Chelsea expect the midfielder to leave the club when his current deal expires this summer.Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, the former Napoli man is a prime target for Newcastle United.A potential free agent of Jorginho’s calibre is always in high demand. He has been linked with several clubs in the past six months, including Barcelona. However, the player himself has made it clear that if it was up to him, he would still wear Chelsea blue next season.

“Of course I do, I love Chelsea,” the Italy international told the club’s official website when asked if he wanted to stay.“But this is something I’m not going to think about now. I need to think about winning games, otherwise, we have a problem.“I’ll focus game by game and then we’ll see what’s going to happen.“My mind is only on Chelsea and trying to win as many games as possible.”Jorginho has featured in all but one Premier League game for Chelsea, so clearly he has not fallen out of favour with Graham Potter.Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently mentioned that Chelsea have been in the market for young talents, including midfielders, to prepare for N’Golo Kante’s possible exit. This could apply to Jorginho as well. However, unlike Kante whose injury record makes keeping him difficult to justify, depending on the terms Jorginho expects from a new deal, he could still prove valuable to the team.
