Buhari Commends The Train Hostages’ Release And Urges The Military To Maintain Momentum

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the military and other security agencies, as well as the entire nation, on the safe release of the remaining 23 kidnapped train passengers.

The affected passengers were held in captivity by Boko Haram terrorists over six months ago.

In accordance with his earlier directives, Buhari expressed his appreciation in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja by his media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, following the safe release of the hostages.

“The nation owed the military and all other security and intelligence agencies a debt of gratitude for the successful conduct of the operation leading to the release of the hostages,” he said.

He confirmed that the agencies had demonstrated exceptional capabilities that the entire world would pay attention to.

“This country’s Armed Forces are as good as any. Given needed support and encouragement as we have been doing, there is no task that they cannot accomplish.

“I commend them for this remarkable outcome,” the president said.

Buhari expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of both kinetic and non-kinetic processes, which ultimately resulted in the safe release of the remaining hostages, and he also commended the victims’ families for having their loved ones returned to life.
He asserts that the nation’s relief at the conclusion of this unfortunate saga must be sustained throughout the federation at all times.
In addition, the president assured that the government’s efforts would be sustained in resolving the problem and halting the recent rise in terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry.
