ASUU Strike: No Education! No Movement! Declares NANS

“We will, by this statement, not beg again. We shall be mobilizing all students to shut down the country. No Education! No Movement!”- Olumide Ojo. NANS National Taskforce Chairman

Public universities in the country have been shut down for seven months since February 14 when ASUU embarked on its industrial action.

Talks between the Federal Government and the striking lecturers have since broken down with both sides trading accusations.

With the possibility of an agreement looking increasingly unlikely as the days went by, the Federal Government dragged ASUU before the National Industrial Court.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has planned another massive action in continuation of their protest against the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASSU).

In an interview with the NANs National Taskforce Chairman, Olumide Ojo, he said “Since last Tuesday, we have been grounding the major highways from Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to Guru Maharaji, we blocked Gbongan and so on. These are the roads being used by the masses, so we decided to focus on the routes government officials use most, which are the international airports and others.

“Nigerians should reschedule their flights because tomorrow (today) Monday 19th September will be grounded. No one will go out, no one will come in.”

“Nigerian students whose parents create the commonwealth cannot continue to be suffering at home alongside our lecturers while the few who gain from our sweats and blood have their kids abroad jollying and flexing.

“We will, by this statement, not beg again. We shall be mobilizing all students to shut down the country. No Education! No Movement!”
