Bandits Attack an Estate in Abuja; Residents Feared Kidnapped

At about 1am Monday morning, residents of Genuine Estate after Efab Queens at 6th Avenue in Gwarinpa were roused from their night rest and thrown into a state of mayhem, when suspected bandits were said to have invaded the estate.

The bandits were reported to have invaded between the hours of 1am and 4am in large numbers armed with bows, arrows and machetes, and a number of residents are feared to have been kidnapped.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh when contacted told The Nation there is an unconfirmed incident at Galadimawa area of the FCT and not Gwarinpa. She said it was not yet confirmed if the incident was a case of kidnap or robbery, and promised to find out details as soon as possible.

However, conflicting reports say that residents of the Jenew (Genuine) Estate in Gwarinpa deny reports of an attack, saying that no such thing occurred, the residents told Premium Times. The chief security officer of the estate, Abraham John, who was on duty all through the night, alongside his subordinates, said nothing like that happened in the estate.

“It is absolutely fake. We were on duty all through the night. Is there another Jenew estate in 6th Estate in Gwarinpa that I am not aware of? There was no robbery nor abduction,” he said.

Sadly this is coming less than 24hrs after the Sunday attack on St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, where a disturbingly large number of worshippers were killed.
